February saw Red Hot jump head-long into National Apprenticeship Week, with our own scheme getting a mention in national newspaper The Sun, and our celebration of a new partnership with Remit Training drawing the attention of the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Valentine's Day was a huge success across all of our restaurants and it was made extra special in Liverpool by lovely couple Stan and Mabel Cull, who were invited to celebrate 66 years of marriage at the restaurant. It was a wonderful occasion and we wish them many more happy Valentine's days to come. You can read about their amazing story in the Liverpool Echo here.

January saw the return of the Red Hot Way, a very special event which recognises the true stars of the business – our hard-working staff. This year saw Red Hot's high-flying apprentices, bar staff, chefs and front-of-house staff all rewarded for their hard work with holiday packages, trophies and a personal letter of congratulations from the company's chairman. Among the winners was Manchester's Rajat Sharma, who won Employee of the Year. We are truly grateful for the effort they put in last year, and we're really looking forward to a fantastic 2012!

Red Hot's Christmas was very merry indeed. Our Northern restaurants challenged primary school children from Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool to come up with a new menu to replace Father Christmas' usual mince pies and carrots in order to win a meal for their entire class. They didn't let us down - we absolutely loved the ideas that came flooding in, including a large chocolate jelly and a Christmas tree made from sausages!
As part of our winter celebrations, we enlisted The Dance Studio in Leeds to surprise Christmas shoppers in The Light with a dance flashmob. On a chilly December evening our intrepid dancers wowed the public with a fantastic routine - you can check it out here.

November will be remembered fondly by everyone here at Red Hot as the month that our staff and directors were recognised in two different awards ceremonies. Our director Helen Dhaliwal was shortlisted for Entrepreneur of the Year at the prestigious Growing Business Awards in London. The second feather in our cap was being crowned Newcomer Brand of the Year in the national Peach Hero awards. We fought off stiff competition from popular London eateries and national chains, and the judges praised Red Hot World Buffet for proving that the restaurant scene doesn't start and end in England's capital. You can read about our win here.

October was a special month for Red Hot as the crème de la crème of Cardiff finally got to experience our newest restaurant in the Welsh capital city centre!
The highly anticipated launch of Red Hot World Buffet & Bar Cardiff, Wales’s biggest buffet restaurant, was attended by 300 VIP guests who were dazzled and delighted by an evening of entertainment, including a Chinese dragon, Indian drummers, Bollywood Dancers, Geisha stilt walkers, fire breathers and a Mexican mariachi band.
TV broadcaster, Sian Lloyd, hosted the event where diners were also greeted by 30 ornate food sculptures made from 130kg of spun-sugar by Red Hot chefs. Another striking focal point of the restaurant is its 35 foot long 100% recycled paper ‘flying dragon’. Hand-made by one of the chefs, it took three months to create and at six foot wide with a wing span of 18 feet, it represents good luck as well as reflecting the Welsh location.
Check out photos of the event on our Facebook page here!
As well as our spectacular buffet of nine different cuisines and more than 300 dishes, guests also experienced a Red Hot first – our only live dessert station in the UK - where diners can see tempting treats being made in front of their eyes!
The launch event, and the exciting lead up to it, was covered by media across Wales. Here are just some of the pieces that caused a stir in Wales’s national paper, The Western Mail, Cardiff’s local papers the Echo and the Echo Extra and magazines including Buzz, Cardiff Life and the Penny Post.

Red Hot's Best of British festival warmed the cockles of patrons visiting our Northern restaurants, and someone looking suspiciously like The Queen paid a royal visit to Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds in a tour that took customers and staff by complete surprise! Her Majesty also presented our Leeds restaurant with a very special birthday cake celebrating the first anniversary of its opening.
Speaking of birthdays, our Liverpool restaurant's second anniversary was celebrated in spectacular fashion with the help of Nazene Danielle's Dance Dynamix dancers, who snuck into the restaurant and broke into an amazing routine in front of our customers! It was a truly memorable celebration and you can watch the video here.
